We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

As a financial controller, you will play a vital role in establishing and maintaining an efficient financial and accounting framework as we expand our operations in Mali.
You will contribute significantly to building robust and scalable financial systems that support the sustainable growth of our business in Mali.
In this role, you'll:
Accounting and Analysis:
- Oversee company accounting and ensure entries are recorded accurately.
- Provide key financial insights by researching and analyzing accounting data.
- Recommend actionable financial decisions by evaluating accounting options.
- Collaborate with Finance engineers to ensure new products are correctly designed from accounting and tax perspectives.
Reconciliation and Reporting:
- Identify and resolve financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Manage financial closing processes.
- Audit and validate financial transactions to ensure accuracy.
Policy and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain accounting controls by drafting and recommending policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with financial, legal, tax, and regulatory standards by staying informed of legislation and enforcing adherence.
- Offer guidance on necessary actions to meet compliance requirements.
Payments and Confidentiality:
- Prepare and verify documentation for disbursements and payment processes.
- Safeguard sensitive financial information by maintaining confidentiality and securing data.
Leadership:
- Embody and promote Wave's core values, ensuring they are deeply integrated into the team's culture and practices.
- Location: You'll work from our office in Mali and may travel to field locations.
- Work authorization in Mali is required.

- Master's degree in accounting, audit, or finance.
- 7+ years of professional experience in accounting, audit, or finance.
- Proficiency in financial reporting standards and practices. A previous experience in an audit firm is a plus.
- 4+ years of management experience
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong computer skills, with a focus on Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Possesses strong accounting and reporting skills.
- Are excessively detail-oriented and seek to achieve excellence in everything you do.
- Are a critical thinker who likes to challenge the status quo.
- Are deadline-orientated.
- Are intellectually curious, creative in the way you go about tackling problems, and embrace failure as a means to spark innovation and growth.
