The Financial Controller (FC) is responsible for managing the general ledger, ensuring accurate and systematic recording of all financial transactions. This includes leading the accounting team, implementing internal controls, and ensuring that ledger entries accurately reflect the company's financial position. Proper management of the general ledger is essential for producing reliable financial statements.
The FC is also crucial in monitoring and controlling expenses. This role involves overseeing accounts payable, ensuring timely invoice payments, and verifying that all expenses are authorized and within budget, thereby maintaining cost efficiency and financial discipline.
In the life insurance industry, compliance with regulatory requirements is vital for financial reporting. The FC ensures that all regulatory reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time to the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and other relevant bodies. This includes solvency reports, risk-based capital calculations, and statutory financial statements. Adhering to regulatory standards is essential for maintaining the company's license and reputation.
The FC ensures that the company's accounting practices align with local and international standards by staying informed about regulatory changes and implementing necessary adjustments. Compliance with these standards is crucial for the credibility of financial statements and avoiding legal penalties.
Additionally, the FC serves as the main point of contact for external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations to facilitate a smooth audit process. Addressing any issues raised by auditors promptly enhances the company’s credibility with stakeholders and regulators.
