The primary focus of the Financial Controller is to increase shareholder value through developing and implementing financial and operational strategies for our site, based in Berlin. You will have overall responsibility of the financial statements, the financial planning and performance management analysis. This position is also responsible for all accounting operations and financial reporting, overseeing internal controls and compliance, and providing appropriate risk management. The Financial controller will work closely with the PCI Bridgend facility who currently manage AR & AP on Berlin’s behalf. As a member of the Site Leadership Team (“SLT”), you are a strategic business partner to the site lead and other key stakeholders in the organization. You will report to the Senior Director Finance Global Clinical Operations (“SDR Fin, Clinical”). This position will be primarily on site with up to 1 day working from home per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for setting the financial direction of PCI Berlin, the business planning and financial forecasting cycles and the implementation of the financial and operational strategies.
- Operate as a strategic and trusted business partner to the site lead and other key stakeholders and provide advice on pricing and costing decisions through monitoring profitability and performing financial analysis.
- Manage all aspects of cash flow with a strong focus on delivering continuous improvements in Net Working Capital management (accounts receivable, inventory management and accounts payable).
- Drive continuous process improvements leveraging digital technology and support the development and enhancement of the ERP platform (JDE) to ensure systems integrity, financial effectiveness and controls.
- Foster good working relationships with all PCI Bridgend to ensure all finance functions are completed accurately and on time.
- Completion of month-end procedures, reconciliations, and investigation of variances.
- Provide technical accounting support in relation to latest accounting standards.
- Support in preparation of timely and accurate financial statements within prescribed timelines.
- Monthly maintenance of fixed asset register and cashflow forecast of capital spend.
- Process and submit VAT return to German tax office.
- Preparation of local, state and federal forms.
- Manage payroll process and accountable for accurate and timely payments to employees and to all outside agencies (pensions/taxes/insurance/etc)
- Maintain compliance with PCI Financial Policies.
- Lead the annual financial audit and ensure compliance with IFRS throughout the year.
- Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.
- Undertake any duties which may reasonably be required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in Finance Business Partnering required, with exposure to Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain.
- Superior analytical skills in combination with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptionally well organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
- Advanced and demonstrated proficiency with Excel, forecasting and financial modelling.
- Strong organizational and analytical capabilities with attention to detail and strategic thinking.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, work independently and with minimal direction.
- High energy, high ownership of work product and dedication and commitment to driving results.
- Flexibility for appropriate on-site management and engagement across both locations.
- “Roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 4+ years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in both German and English
