Ready for a new challenge where your accounting expertise can drive excellence and add value?  We're looking for a qualified accountant with a strong financial accounting background to join our Finance team in Guernsey. 
This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead on managing the books and records of the Canaccord Wealth group's operating entity in Guernsey. The successful candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, helping to maintain accurate and complete financial and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of day-to-day financial accounting duties for the main trading entity, branches and subsidiaries, producing monthly management accounts, including associated reconciliations, within group reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare the annual statutory accounts in line with IFRS for these entities and other entities within the CW International group structure.
  • Act as the point of contact for both external and internal auditors and tax advisors, ensuring co-ordination and delivery of any audit and tax requirements, including VAT.
  • Review adherence with capital adequacy reporting requirements and ensure any annual regulatory submissions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Oversee the system generated revenue processes performed by the wider team, including but not limited to fee runs, retrocessions and interest payable and receivable.
  • Recommend system and process enhancements and implement them in conjunction with developers and business analysts, leveraging technology to automate tasks and improve reporting.
  • Monitor systems to safeguard the integrity of the financial records, identify and implement improvements to processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support the wider finance team and broader business in responding to ad-hoc requests as they arise, including those from overseas group companies.
  • Act as mentor and supervisor for junior members of the team.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Technical/Qualifications
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA/ICAEW qualification or equivalent
  • At least two years' post-qualification experience
  • Good technical accounting understanding and working knowledge of financial reporting & month end procedures (IFRS)
Regulatory Awareness / Compliance
  • Investment business regulatory familiarity across the Crown Dependencies & UK
  • Good understanding of relevant compliance and tax regulations
  • Understanding of capital and liquidity requirements in a regulated business
  • Client money environment / FCA CASS rules understanding preferable
Systems/Internal Processes
  • Proficient in Excel, with knowledge of Power Query an advantage
  • Understanding of accounting software & databases (Avaloq knowledge an advantage)

Skills Required
