About the Role
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of accounting operations and financial reporting while helping transition the company's finance function from outsourced accounting to a fully in-house operation.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll own the General Ledger (GL), month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting controls, while supervising bookkeeping, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable activities.
This is a high-ownership role for a finance professional who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and delivering accurate financial information to executive leadership. The position begins with a three-month contractor trial period, with the potential for a long-term engagement based on performance and business needs.

Accounting Operations & Month-End Close
- Own and maintain the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
- Maintain the Chart of Accounts and accounting structure.
- Lead monthly close activities, reconciliations, and financial accuracy.
- Support the transition from outsourced accounting to an internal accounting function.
- Establish scalable accounting processes and financial controls.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Review of Profit & Loss statements and performance across business units.
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
- Provide timely financial information to the CFO and executive leadership.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues proactively.
- Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bookkeeping activities.
- Review invoices, payroll, expense reports, and vendor payments.
- Coordinate payroll tax, sales tax, and year-end tax reporting activities.
- Ensure accounting practices follow company policies and financial controls.
- Handle sensitive financial information with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or similar role.
- Proven experience with full ownership of the General Ledger (GL).
- Strong experience managing month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks.
- Experience supervising accounting, AP/AR, or bookkeeping functions.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
- Advanced English proficiency (C1/C2) with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment during U.S. business hours.
- Experience transitioning an accounting function in-house or improving accounting processes.
- Experience with project accounting software such as BigTime or similar platforms.
- Experience within professional services, construction, architecture, engineering, or design firms.
- Experience in Luxury Architecture, Interior Design, or High-End Residential Design is highly desirable.
- CPA or equivalent accounting certification is a plus.
