About the CFO Group
The CFO Group is a global corporate function at Fidelity International, operating across all 27 countries and bringing together Finance, Business Consulting, Procurement, Treasury and Corporate Property Services.
The CFO Group exists to actively partner with the business, providing financial clarity, constructive challenge and leadership so that decisions are well governed and value is created across the enterprise. Through the Finance Fast Forward programme, the function is evolving towards a more modern, commercially focused and insight‑led model, strengthening its use of data, automation and judgement to support high‑quality decision‑making, robust control and sustainable outcomes.
About your role
As Financial Controller for the APAC region, this is a senior, strategic and transformative leadership role within the CFO Group, operating as a key member of the regional CFO leadership community. You will be expected to contribute enterprise‑level thinking, leadership judgement and a clear transformation mindset beyond your immediate remit, helping to shape the effectiveness and evolution of the CFO Group and how Financial Control supports enterprise decision‑making over the medium to long term.
Alongside this, you will lead the legal‑entity Financial Control agenda with full accountability for the integrity, governance and control of statutory and regulatory financial reporting across approximately 25 legal entities and branches spanning seven jurisdictions, operating under multiple regulatory and accounting frameworks. You will set regional standards aligned to global frameworks, provide leadership on complex multi‑GAAP and regulatory judgement matters, exercise dotted‑line oversight of local finance and site activity, lead a high‑performing Financial Control leadership team, and drive continuous improvement across a complex, multi‑jurisdictional operating model.
The responsibilities will evolve over time in line with the needs of the business but will include:
- Act as the senior legal‑entity Financial Control lead for the region, accountable for the integrity, governance and control of statutory and regulatory financial reporting across approximately 25 legal entities/branches spanning multiple jurisdictions, regulatory regimes and accounting frameworks.
- Oversee the delivery of high‑quality statutory accounts, regulatory returns and related disclosures, ensuring compliance with group policies, relevant accounting standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Own the regional governance and reporting calendar, ensuring timely delivery of close, reporting, audit and board/committee materials in a high‑complexity environment, with clear accountability, strong coordination across local and central teams, and effective escalation of issues.
- Lead external audit planning and execution and manage senior relationships with external auditors and regulators, operating confidently under regulatory scrutiny, tight deadlines and competing priorities while maintaining control integrity.
- Act as a strategic driver of the evolution of the regional controllership model, leading operating model efficiency, process optimisation and automation, and optimising the use of shared services and centres of excellence, while maintaining strong control, governance and clear ownership.
- Ensure a robust internal control framework is designed, implemented and operating effectively across all entities, with a strong focus on risk‑based oversight, issue resolution and sustainable control improvement.
- Oversee key accounting judgements and estimates, ensuring they are robust, well‑evidenced and clearly articulated to senior stakeholders and governance bodies.
- Own regional regulatory capital and liquidity management, including capital and liquidity governance, planning, forecasting and stress‑testing frameworks, and engagement with regulators and senior governance forums across multiple jurisdictions.
- Oversee complex accounting judgements and estimates across multiple GAAP frameworks, ensuring they are robust, well‑evidenced, consistently applied and clearly articulated to senior stakeholders and governance bodies.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of tax impacts on financial statements and capital management, partnering effectively with Tax teams and centres of excellence to apply judgement and ensure appropriate treatment and governance.
- Provide dotted‑line oversight of site/location CFO activity, ensuring alignment to regional and global standards, consistency of execution, and effective local capability, acting as the figure head for CFO in Dalian.
- Drive consistency and standardisation of legal‑entity Financial Control processes across the region, aligned with global frameworks and ways of working.
- Build and lead a high‑performing regional Financial Control leadership team, with a strong focus on talent, succession and capability development, including the uplift of technical depth and communication effectiveness (particularly within offshore and hub locations such as Dalian).
About you
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or local equivalent) with significant post‑qualification experience in senior legal‑entity Financial Control or controllership roles within complex, multi‑jurisdictional environments.
- Deep technical accounting expertise, with the ability to navigate and apply judgement across multiple GAAP frameworks and regulatory requirements in a consistent and well‑governed manner.
- Strong experience operating in environments with multiple and sometimes conflicting regulatory and accounting requirements, exercising sound judgement and managing risk appropriately.
- Proven leadership capability, including setting standards, owning regional frameworks and shaping the direction of Financial Control, with the confidence and credibility to operate as a senior leader within the CFO Group.
- Proven track record of delivering controllership operating model efficiencies, including process optimisation, automation and the effective management and optimisation of shared service and offshore models.
- Strong working knowledge of tax considerations impacting legal‑entity reporting and capital management, with experience partnering effectively with Tax teams and centres of excellence.
- Highly effective communicator, with the ability to translate complex technical and regulatory matters into clear, concise and impactful insights for Boards, regulators and senior management.
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin (written and verbal) is a non‑negotiable requirement for this role.
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure, managing tight reporting timelines, regulatory scrutiny and competing priorities without compromising control or quality.
- An outcome‑focused leader with the resilience and judgement to balance rigour with pace, and a clear commitment to developing talent, uplifting capability and embedding the desired CFO culture across the region.
