The Role
As the company continues to grow, QuidelOrtho is looking for a Financial Analyst, supporting our Operations Finance Team.
The Financial Analyst will be a key member of the Operations Finance team. This position performs cost accounting functions such as monthly journal entries, monthly reconciliations and performing research on issues and variances to plan to ensure a timely and accurate financial close.
The successful candidate can expect to be immersed in the medical diagnostics industry at a time where the industry’s impact is regularly felt on a global scale. The successful candidate will expect to learn how finance impacts the operations of a publicly traded company and will be able to support management decisions with their analytical input. The successful candidate will be part of a firm that prioritizes quality, speed, happiness, and engagement.
This position will be located on-site in Carlsbad, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Perform various cost accounting functions, including inventory reconciliation, production volume reporting and work order variance analytics and general support of the Operations team
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries related to cost accounting as required during the month end close process
- Oversee the cycle count process and cycle count reporting
- Perform initial financial analysis of monthly reports for presentation to Leadership
- Create ad hoc financial reports and slide presentations as needed
- Collaborates with Operations to identify and reduce process inefficiencies, and track cost reduction initiatives
- Work with internal and external auditors to answer questions regarding the company's costing process and control environment
- Support SOX 404 audit procedures related to transactional accounting activities
- Carry out duties in compliance with established business policies
- Assist management with special projects, including implementation of new software and processes.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
The Individual
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Cost Accounting
- Bachelors degree in Accounting required
- Strong analytical and communication skills to convey information effectively
- Comfortable completing a large volume of routine tasks on time and with high quality
- High level of accuracy in all work a must
- Demonstrated track-record of successful outcomes
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite of products, primarily Excel
- Independent and highly motivated attitude and work ethic
- Self-directed and able to work well and communicate effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Fast paced with the ability to be flexible and prioritize multiple tasks and manage to deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience with other business applications such as SAP a plus
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Consulting or public audit experience a plus

- This position interacts with all areas and levels of the company including Senior Executives, Managers and Business Leads.

- Contractors and vendors
The Work Environment
30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Minimal travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.
Physical Demands
No strenuous physical activity. 10% of time meeting with people; 70% of the time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/on phones; 20% of the time talking with visitors. Flexible work hours may be needed at times to meet project deadlines. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Works for long periods of time in sitting position using computer, keyboard and mouse.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$75,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
