Location Requirement

This is an in-person position based in Salisbury, North Carolina. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Salisbury and be able to report to the office regularly. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available for this role.


Position Summary

Lutheran Services Carolinas is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team in Salisbury, NC. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position is responsible for working closely with leadership to perform financial analyses, support accounting functions, develop forecasts and projections, and complete special projects for LSC affiliates and related organizations. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about using financial data to support informed decision-making and organizational success.


Essential Responsibilities
  • Analyze the financial operations of the organization and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare written monthly financial commentary for reports and presentations.
  • Develop annual forecasts, budgets, and financial projections.
  • Translate financial results into meaningful information for leaders, teammates, and stakeholders.
  • Complete special projects and provide financial information as requested by leadership.
  • Collaborate with accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Assist with preparation of audit work papers and annual audit activities.
  • Support data collection and analysis for cost report preparation.
  • Work independently while contributing as a collaborative member of the Finance team.

QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting required.
  • Five (5) or more years of financial analysis experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, social services, retirement services, or nonprofit organizations is a plus.

Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based environment.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach as needed.
  • Limited travel to LSC facilities may be required.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and professional interactions with residents, families, business contacts, and teammates.
