VISION:

SCOPE:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst provides business, fiscal, and program planning advice, analysis, and functional support to ONWA senior management. The Financial Analyst provides ongoing business and financial analysis and advisory services that support evidence-based business strategy formulation, program evaluation, performance measurement and monitoring, risk management, and expenditure management strategies and plans for the organization.

The Financial Analyst provides support and advice on the interpretation and application of financial management principles and practices, recommending options and identifying risks related to the development of ONWA’s strategic plan, funding proposals, and organizational priorities. The position supports financial decision-making through forecasting, reporting, analysis, and continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:


SKILLS

      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, Economics, General Business, or a related field.
      • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience.
      • Ability to apply interpretive and evaluative analysis to identify, anticipate, and assess emerging fiscal issues and risks.
      • Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, business cases, and recommendations.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the capacity to evaluate complex financial and non-financial information.
      • Knowledge and experience utilizing financial accounting software, preferably Sparkrock, and the ability to quickly learn new systems and applications.
      • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
      • Experience in financial modelling using large-scale complex data sets.
      • Knowledge of data visualization and modelling tools such as Power BI.
      • Experience with Tableau is considered an asset.
      • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
      • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
      • Ability to present information, training, and recommendations to a variety of audiences.
      • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
      • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office software, the internet, and general office equipment.

      KNOWLEDGE

      • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial government funding environments and the not-for-profit sector.
      • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting processes, regulations, and financial analysis techniques.
      • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, expenditure management, and financial reporting practices.
      • Knowledge of financial management systems, internal controls, and business planning processes.
      • Understanding of risk management methodologies and financial performance monitoring.
      • Knowledge of not-for-profit organizations and funding accountability requirements.
      • Understanding of program evaluation, performance measurement, and organizational planning principles.
      • Ability to speak an Indigenous language is considered an asset.

      The full salary range for this role is $69,900 - $86,230 ONWA conducts annual performance reviews, and employees may be eligible for salary adjustments based on performance outcomes and available funding.
