Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. We are currently seeking a Financial Analyst – Level 3 to join the space sector SOX team. This individual will report to the Manager of Technical Accounting and SOX and will be responsible for defining and implementing the sector SOX internal controls strategy and framework to drive processes and compliance for all divisions. This individual will work closely with sector Financial Reporting and Planning, Program Finance and Shared Service Centers. This role is located in our McLean VA facility.

In this job, you will:
- Evaluate and help to design the operating effectiveness of SOX internal controls and making recommendations for improvement.
- Work with external and internal auditors and Corporate SOX PMO to plan and implement assessment of the control environment, coordinating timing and execution of process walk throughs and operating effectiveness testing cycles.
- Work with the division and functional teams to perform and monitor SOX internal controls and processes.
- Provide general audit support; including document retrieval, review, and research.
- Support ongoing monitoring of internal controls and responding to related inquiries.
- Document identified findings and deficiencies, providing guidance on remediation actions, and monitoring remediation activities to completion.
- Perform quarterly and year-end SOX reporting tasks, including administration of SOX certifications for entire Space sector and reporting to Corporate SOX PMO.
- Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures related to internal controls over financial reporting and SOX.
- Support routine and ad hoc financial reporting requirements.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or related field) and 2+ years of relevant professional experience – OR – Master’s degree or CPA and 1+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or related field) and 5+ years of relevant work experience – OR – a Master’s degree or CPA and 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in performing and supporting audit activities.
- Data and financial analysis skills, including use and understanding of spreadsheets.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, yet functions well in a team environment.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- GAAP accounting proficiency and research experience.
- Operational experience with SAP and/or Costpoint in Aerospace / Defense production environments.
