Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Financial Analyst Intern will support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team with core financial reporting, analysis, and planning activities. This role provides hands‑on exposure to budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and executive‑level reporting within a dynamic, regulated manufacturing environment. The intern will work closely with FP&A professionals and cross‑functional partners to help drive financial insight and operational decision‑making.
This internship is designed to develop foundational FP&A skills while providing meaningful contributions to ongoing finance initiatives and special projects.
REPORTING TO/DEPARTMENT:
Reports to the Senior Financial Analyst in the Financial Planning & Analysis department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with monthly financial reporting, including preparation of variance analyses versus budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including data collection, modeling updates, and consolidation of inputs from functional teams.
- Help maintain and update financial models related to operating expenses, headcount, vendor spend, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare Excel‑based analyses and summaries to support FP&A reviews and management presentations.
- Partner with Accounting and FP&A team members during month‑end close activities, including review of actuals and trend analysis.
- Support ad‑hoc financial analysis and special projects related to cost management, vendor spend, productivity, or strategic initiatives.
- Assist in improving reporting tools, templates, and processes to enhance data accuracy and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred or Desired:
- Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in finance, accounting, or analytics
- Exposure to financial systems such as ERP, planning tools, or BI platforms
- Interest in FP&A, corporate finance, or business analytics
Required:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, basic modeling)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
