About The Role
As a Financial Analyst Intern, you will play a vital role in using data to solve problems by engaging in deep dive analyses on client cost and revenue patterns, in addition to assisting the Senior Financial Analyst and VP of Finance with adhoc internal and client requests. The Insights team’s mission is to help our clients effectively manage risk and increase customer satisfaction by providing them with critical business insights and top-notch data services. You must be able to learn quickly, and present data in a digestible way to cross-functional stakeholders.
The role includes ongoing monitoring of financial client data. You will have daily responsibilities to monitor payment transaction performance, identify areas of risk and concern, and proactively assist other teams in resolving any identified issues.
We also need a centralized, accessible, detailed knowledge base in confluence that meticulously specifies all things related to foundational financial analytics: interchange, fees, ROI models, etc., to foster cross-functional domain knowledge.

The Financial Analyst Intern will report to the Senior Financial Analyst.

What You’ll Do
- Engage in deep dive analyses on client cost and revenue patterns, in addition to assisting the Senior Financial Analyst with initiatives related (but not limited to) all adhoc requests from our VP of Finance and executive team.
- Perform complex financial analyses on transaction performance, interpret the results, identify patterns of concern and work with network partners and clients to resolve these issues. Bonus points for improving monitoring efficiency by finding ways to automate.
- Respond to adhoc analytics and reporting requests from internal and external customers and assist with data delivery in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner
- Create centralized, accessible, meticulous domain knowledge documentation.
- Daily management and ongoing monitoring of financial client patterns.
What We Are Looking For
- Students in their senior year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s program. Ideal majors include (but are not limited to) Economics, Statistics, MIS or Operations Research, Business Analytics, Finance, and Data Science.
- Strong understanding of calculations specific to financial KPIs, financial modeling, ROIs
- Proficiency in Excel, knowledge of Tableau and SQL preferred
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Python for data analysis
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Self-motivated and a strong inquisitive nature to learn about payments
- Must be proactive and engaged, eager to work with various teams and solve problems
Additional Skills/Experience of Interest:
- Prior experience or internships in financial services or payments is a strong plus
- Experience with Tableau is a plus
- Prior experience in a startup or small fast-paced company environment is a plus
The base pay for this position is $30/hr. This position is located in our Palo Alto, CA HQ and would require candidates to work onsite 3 days a week.
