Financial Analyst I - Relational Finance (Memphis, TN)
This role supports the development, implementation, and ongoing optimization of financial and operational reporting systems tied to revenue and expenses. The position partners closely with Development Finance and cross-functional teams to design and enhance management systems that support relational fundraising programs, campaigns, and initiatives at national and multi-regional levels.
The role plays a key part in ensuring divisional and organization-wide fundraising goals, marketing strategies, and operational objectives are achieved through accurate reporting, insights, and financial modeling. Additionally, this position contributes to educating stakeholders on cross-divisional systems and data usage while providing analytical support for decision-making.
Essential Job FunctionsReporting & Systems Development
Leverages strong analytical thinking, creativity, and attention to detail to collaborate with FP&A leadership, Financial Analysts, and Relational teams in developing and implementing tracking and reporting systems for revenue, expenses, and program activity. Supports the monitoring of performance and provides insights for financial projections and growth opportunities.
Program Financial Analysis
Partners with Relational leadership to develop, maintain, and analyze revenue and expense data across programs, events, campaigns, and strategic initiatives, ensuring data accuracy and actionable insights.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Collaborates with the Director, Financial Analysts, and Relational leadership on budgeting and financial forecasting. Works closely with Territory leadership and Program Directors to ensure alignment and accurate financial planning. Partners with internal stakeholders to deliver timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial reporting through ongoing communication and collaboration.
Data Governance & Coding Oversight
Oversees the creation and governance of source and event codes for the Relational division, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide standards. Acts as a central point of contact across multiple divisions—including Relational, Mass, Experiential, Accounting, and Donor Account Processing—to ensure consistency and accuracy in reporting.
Performance Reporting & ROI Analysis
Maintains and enhances reports used by senior leadership to evaluate ROI, program effectiveness, and campaign performance. Ensures expenses are properly allocated to the appropriate programs, initiatives, and GL codes, resolving discrepancies through strong cross-functional collaboration.
Transaction Processing & Data Integrity
Manages the coding, processing, and reconciliation of invoices, expenses, and revenue within systems such as Mavro. Partners with Accounting and other teams to resolve data discrepancies, including correcting miscoded gifts.
Data Modeling & Insights Development
Works with Operations teams to design and evolve data models that track program participation and engagement across varying levels. Integrates data from multiple sources, including relational operations databases, donor management systems, and data warehouses.
Reporting & Business Insights
Produces monthly and ad hoc reports for Finance leadership and key stakeholders, delivering actionable insights that support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial analysis, nonprofit fundraising, or a related field
- Working knowledge of fundraising practices and nonprofit operations, with experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial analysis preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams
- Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions in a dynamic environment
- Intermediate proficiency in financial and data systems, including:
- Hyperion/SmartView
- Business Objects
- Oracle
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
