In this role, the Financial Analyst will have direct responsibility over a portfolio of projects, with a primary focus on financial analysis, reporting and project accounting activities. The incumbent will support project financial management, including forecasting, revenue recognition, and performance analysis. 

  

Description 

  • Work in collaboration with Program Management to support project financial management, including assessing Estimate at Completion (EAC) requirements and developing project financial forecasts. 
  • Support the application of IFRS, with a particular focus on IFRS 15, in the context of customer contracts. 
  • Prepare and review financial information for the assigned project portfolio on a periodic basis (monthly, quarterly and annual). 
  • Prepare analysis of project performance and perform variance analysis on a periodic basis, including but not limited to month-end, forecasts, and budgets. 
  • Perform scenario assessments, including the evaluation of EAC changes and related financial impacts, to support project financial planning and performance monitoring. 
  • Assist in initiatives including, but not limited to, reporting enhancement, data integrity, and process improvements within the accounting environment. 
  • Support internal and external audit activities. 
  • Support month-end close and forecasting activities related to the assigned project portfolio. 
  • Participate in business process troubleshooting and enhancement initiatives (e.g. Planisware, Oracle, Power BI) where appropriate. 

  

Minimum Qualifications 

  • University degree in accounting or finance. 
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of financial analysis and reporting experience. 
  • In depth knowledge of accounting principles, public company financial reporting & practices experience. 
  • Proven management accounting skills and experience. 
  • Experience in project or contract-based accounting environments. 
  • Proven experience in preparing complex business models. 
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, Visio). 
  • Fluency in English and French. 

  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Professional accounting designation (CA, CPA). 
  • Experience in project accounting or contract-based accounting environments. 
  • Knowledge of costing principles and margin analysis within a project or contract-based environment. 
  • Experience with long-term contracts accounted for using the percentage of completion revenue recognition methodology. 
  • Experience supporting forecasting processes. 
  • Able to work flexible hours. 
  • Knowledge and experience with Oracle and Hyperion (Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Enterprise). 
  • Exposure to corporate consolidation processes. 
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment requiring continuous process improvement. 
  • Ability to manage stress and work well under pressure, e.g. meeting deadlines whilst delivering a high standard of work. 
  • Ability to learn about the financial requirements of new/different countries. 
  • Able to work within a team environment and contribute towards team objectives and meeting all required deadlines. 
  • Able to assimilate ad-hoc and diverse information, create/provide financial models and/or analysis and present it to management successfully. 
  • Proven ability to analyse project financial performance, including identification and assessment of risks and opportunities.
