The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Development, you will provide financial, analytical and transaction support to members of the Strategy & Corporate Development team across a range of strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures. This role offers exposure to complex transactions and enterprise-level decision making.
Please note: Travel will be limited but may be required from time to time within the US, Canada and Mexico (valid passport required).
What you'll do
Conduct financial analysis and modeling of corporate-level and asset-level M&A opportunities
Support due diligence processes for potential acquisitions and divestitures, including coordinating with key internal stakeholders such as Commercial, Engineering, Operations, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Risk, IS, and HS&E, as well as external parties
Manage and organize transaction-related information and related systems
Contribute to the identification of key investment risks and considerations, supporting the development of mitigation strategies and transaction structures
Prepare analysis, summaries and presentation materials for senior leadership and the Board of Directors, including strategic rationale, economic evaluation, transaction terms and risk factors
Perform valuations and economic analysis on individual assets within TC Energy’s portfolio using a range of valuation methodologies
Conduct strategic and financial assessments of peer companies and assess implications of competitor strategies for TC Energy’s business prospects and investment decisions
Monitor and summarize key trends and M&A activity across the energy industry
Support the maintenance of an internal repository of public trading and transaction comparables
Conduct analysis and prepare materials in support of strategic information sessions and internal reviews
Other analytical and project-based tasks as required
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline
2+ years of professional experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, management consulting or a related analytical role
Experience performing financial analysis and valuation, with a solid understanding of the fundamental principles of economics, risk analysis, portfolio theory and accounting
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of TC Energy's businesses, the energy industry and capital markets
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Flexibility to respond to time-sensitive requests and adjust work hours to meet critical deadlines
Ability to work effectively both independently and in cross-functional teams
