The Walt Disney Company’s Controllership team is seeking a Financial Accounting Analyst (FAA) who will be an exceptional addition to our team. This position will report to the Manager, Financial Accounting with direct exposure to the Director. This position will support the accounting and financial reporting aspects of The Walt Disney Company’s subscription offerings. A successful candidate is a self-starter who is willing to embrace a challenge and continually seeks opportunities for efficiency, innovation, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the accounting function of our SVOD, Live TV, and Premium Add-On subscription offerings Own the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for key balance sheet and expense accounts during the quarter-end close process
  • Review distribution, bundling, and carriage agreements and work with the SFAA to operationalize contractual terms during the preparation of monthly/quarterly license fee, revenue share, and bounty fee accruals and monthly statement calculations Build, maintain, and enhance relationships with internal and external business partners Perform analytical reviews and variance analyses for key financial and operating metrics
  • Troubleshoot accounting issues in the system and propose solutions to management, utilizing judgment as to when items need to be escalated
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, including the use of AI and other efficiency tools (e.g., Alteryx and the like), and help test and implement solutions to obtain efficiencies Effectively operate internal controls and help perform updates to SOX process documentation as needed
  • Provide support for the annual financial statement audit
  • Support ad hoc analyses, special projects, and business initiatives

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in public accounting
  • Good working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Proficient with Microsoft business suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior accounting/auditing experience
  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Industry experience in media and/or entertainment
  • Experience with SAP financials

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

The hiring range for this position in California is $79,100 to $96,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
