POSITION SUMMARY:
The Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing financial analysis, and supporting the preparation of timely and reliable financial reporting. The Financial Accountant works closely with Accounting and Finance leadership and other departments to investigate financial results, resolve discrepancies, strengthen internal controls, and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently research and resolve accounting issues.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals and supporting schedules.
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy, completeness, and unusual activity.
- Review financial results and identify trends, unusual transactions, and opportunities requiring management attention.
- Evaluate accounting procedures and internal controls and recommend improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency and consistency.
- Assist in developing, documenting, and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
- Participate in accounting and finance projects, system implementations, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Associate degree with relevant accounting experience may be considered.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to analyze financial information, identify issues, and independently research solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet established reporting and closing deadlines.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work effectively with large amounts of financial data.
- Ability to identify opportunities to strengthen processes and internal controls
- Strong organizational skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Relocation to Eau Claire, WI is required
