Financial Accountant

Responsible for ensuring the completeness, accuracy and integrity of logistics financial information across monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycles through effective accounting, reconciliations, cost analysis, budgeting and operational finance support. Supporting the Logistics Finance Manager and Operations teams by providing meaningful financial reporting, analysis and business insights to support decision-making, cost optimisation and operational performance improvement.
Assist internal and external auditors with information and reporting requirements, ensure consistent application of accounting standards, company policies and internal controls, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics and finance environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Prepare monthly journals, supporting schedules, ledger transactions and reconciliations, and review journal processing to ensure accounts are complete, valid, accurate and correctly processed at all times.
• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close and reporting processes.
• Prepare, review and analyse financial and operational information, including logistics and distribution costs, to support operational and financial decision-making.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cost planning and variance analysis processes for logistics operations.
• Monitor and report on logistics cost performance, cost drivers, trends and cost optimisation initiatives.
• Review, reconcile and support processing of logistics-related costs, including 3PL service provider costs, transport recoveries, commissions and related operational expenditure.
• Partner with Logistics Operations and Finance teams to provide financial insight, analysis and business support.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules and audit documentation in line with company policies and internal control requirements.
• Assist with internal and external audit requirements by providing accurate information, documentation and explanations.
• Support stock take processes through attendance, verification procedures, investigation of variances and follow-up of corrective actions where required.
• Maintain and support fixed asset processes including additions, disposals, transfers, verification and work-in-progress tracking where applicable.
• Support working capital management processes including accruals, provisions and related financial controls.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, statutory requirements and internal control procedures.
• Identify and support implementation of process improvements and operational efficiencies within the finance and logistics environment.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analysis, reporting and investigations as required by management.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with Finance, Shared Services and Operational stakeholders
• Provide support on additional finance, operational, reporting and business improvement activities as required by management and the business.

Qualifications & Experience

• BCom Accounting, Finance or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• CA(SA)-NON NEGOTIABLE
• 2 – 3 years experience
• 1-2 Years relevant accounting and administrative experience in a FMCG environment.
