About the role
As Financial Accountant, you will be part of a team that drives the organisation’s financial integrity — collaborating with colleagues across finance, operations, and leadership to ensure accurate reporting, informed decision‑making, and strong compliance.  You will be responsible for a range of core financial accounting activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, month-end reporting, fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, capital project accounting, and management reporting. You will help ensure financial compliance, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality financial information that supports informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items.

  • Complete monthly accounting and reconciliations for capital projects.

  • Maintain and analyse the Fixed Asset Register, including monitoring capital expenditure and ensuring timely and accurate creation of assets.

  • Perform monthly lease accounting and reconciliations in accordance with AASB 16.

  • Analyse relevant profit and loss accounts with Finance Business Partners.

  • Assist with monthly management and year-end financial reporting.

  • Manage the Finance SharePoint site and digital forms.

What we’re looking for

  • CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent recognised international qualification).

  • Minimum five years' experience in financial accounting within a complex organisation.

  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, fixed assets, capital expenditure and AASB 16 lease accounting.

  • Experience preparing management reports and presenting financial information to a range of stakeholders.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and financial interpretation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.

  • Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.

  • Advanced Excel and financial systems skills, with knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and not-for-profit accounting highly regarded.

Skills Required

  • CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent recognised international qualification)

  • Experience with AASB 16 lease accounting
  • Experience preparing management reports and presenting financial information to stakeholders

  • Experience with financial systems and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and not-for-profit accounting
