MCL is undertaking a strategic simplification of its group structure, reducing the number of entities from approximately 40 to 15. This initiative is part of a broader effort to streamline operations, eliminate dormant entities, and resolve intra-group balances in collaboration with tax advisers, accountants, and liquidators.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join MCL on a short-term basis to support the execution of this reorganisation. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating entity closures, managing intercompany eliminations, and liaising with external advisers to ensure a smooth and compliant transition.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the closure of dormant and redundant entities within the group.
• Liaise with tax advisers to manage and eliminate intra-group loan positions and balances.
• Work closely with external liquidators and accountants to ensure timely and accurate entity wind-downs.
• Assist in preparing solvency statements and supporting documentation for entity closures.
• Review and validate intercompany loan write-offs and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
• Maintain clear documentation and audit trails for all restructuring activities.
• Provide ad hoc support to the CFO and wider finance team as required.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in group restructuring, entity rationalisation, or corporate simplification projects.
• Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and tax implications of entity closures.
• Comfortable working with external advisers including tax consultants, auditors, and legal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams independently and flexibly.
• Experience with UK tax compliance and corporate governance frameworks.
• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent.
• Prior exposure to private group structures or family office environments.
• Familiarity with MCL’s operating context or similar mid-sized group structures.
