We are looking for an experienced senior financial writer to join our Global Content team within the Client Group. Senior financial writers conceive, develop and create thought-leadership topics and other deliverables to promote AB's brand, differentiated thinking, investment services and platforms. Content is executed for diverse audiences and in diverse formats, including white papers, blogs, displays, social media and web.

Job Description

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and create thought leadership to support AB's US defined contribution (DC) business as well as a broad range of asset classes, products and businesses, taking content from initial idea to final deliverable, including blogs, white papers, annotated charts and infographics
  • Work with DC experts, Portfolio Managers, Senior Portfolio Managers, Product Managers, Analysts and Business Heads to turn raw research, insights and data into compelling high-impact thought leadership
  • Collaborate with Channel Marketing and Business Development colleagues to align topics with thematic campaigns that promote focus products, platforms and brands
  • Be a trusted advisor and creative voice to business leaders, investment professionals and marketing to shape a wide range of communications in a clear and concise way, building trust in AB



Job Qualifications & Key Attributes

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of intensive financial writing experience (corporate or media background preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of the US DC retirement market and how it's evolving, including: plan design, investment options and QDIAs, all aspects of target-date investment design and open architecture, the regulatory landscape and fiduciary obligations.
  • Macroeconomic, investment theory and capital markets knowledge across asset classes to provide a framework for developing and refining topics from subject matter experts
  • Experience working across diverse formats: multimedia/video, web, blogs, social media, one-on-one presentations, white papers and annotated charts
  • Ability to adjust tone and message to audiences across the spectrum of financial sophistication, from institutions and financial advisors to plan sponsors and individuals
  • Excellent organizational and project-management skills, including the ability to coordinate with subject-matter experts, production, design, video teams, editors and proofreaders
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while multitasking, adhering to sometimes tight deadlines while maintaining collaborate relationships with colleagues

  • Passionate about communicating in an approachable, plain English tone and committed to improving every piece of content touched
  • Able to use capital markets and investing knowledge to engage with investment experts, understand their story and tell it in a compelling and interesting way
  • Skilled at connecting related pieces of information and explaining data exhibits to create a strong narrative and point of view
  • Open to other viewpoints, collaborative, and versatile enough to work with different types of people and personalities
  • Relentless in executing projects within a deadline and multi-tasking several assignments at once, including when faced with complexity and/or adversity



Required Skills

Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and social-media publishing tools; experience using cross-media content-management tools is a plus
