The Senior Accountant based in Kansas City, MO. The Senior Accountant will be a vital part of the business unit's accounting operations including procure-to-pay and record-to-report processes. This position area of responsibility will include the accounting operations for multiple business units including a software and service business, a laboratory business, and an international business unit. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for developing process improvement strategies, implementation of accounting technologies and accounting workflows. This position performs a variety of complex duties in general accounting such as analyzing accounts, preparing reports, reconciling intercompany accounts, performing the monthly financial close and consolidation, initiating bank transfers and maintaining & performing software interfaces.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • This position will be an experienced, capable, and key contributor to the Accounting Department, with an ability to handle accounting responsibilities for a wide variety of topics with minimal supervision and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Prepare journal entries for monthly and quarterly close related to specifically assigned processes including but not limited to cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, capitalized software, fixed assets, inventory, accounts payable, and a variety of accruals.
  • Reconcile and/or review assigned G/L accounts to ensure accuracy and identify/resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with preparation for external auditor quarterly, interim, or annual procedures.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing improvement in both manual and IT dependent accounting processes.
  • Suggest and implement ideas to improve and maintain financial and accounting controls and play an integral role in the Company's compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Provide oversight and mentoring to less experienced accounting staff.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
  • 3 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience and at least 2 years of general ledger experience
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Diverse professional background including a combination of private and public experience
  • Experience working in healthcare, manufacturing, or technology
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics Navision, SAGE, or the HFM suite of products
  • Experience working with budgets and forecasts
  • Extensive experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
