Overview

Come join Intuit's Accounting organization (Controllership, Operations, and Systems Assurance) as a Revenue Recognition Risk Lead. Position is located in San Diego, CA. We are looking for creative problem solvers with a passion for innovation to join our team and revolutionize the way the world does business.

This leader is responsible for quality assurance over how we recognize revenue by testing offering functionality and features along with reviewing customer messaging and contracts to ensure that the offering functionality and customer messaging is consistent with representations made by Product Management/Marketing and, therefore, the way revenue is recognized for the offering. This is a highly visible and exciting role in the Finance controllership group in service to accurate revenue recognition and financial statements while supporting Intuit's overall growth.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to collaborate and lead across multiple functions and roles to achieve the quality assurance objectives. This leader will design a validation plan and have the ability to leverage resources (their own time and others) to deliver quality, documented tests with clearly articulated results/impact assessment. If and when issues are identified, the leader will use their strong change management skills and to drive issues through to resolution and subsequent validation with the full transparency of involved stakeholders at all levels within the larger Intuit organization.

What you'll bring

  • Understands theory and application of relevant revenue recognition accounting literature.
  • Ability to research and understand technical details; and ability to interpret and present in lay terms to non-technical finance and other business partners.
  • Confidence, good judgment, energy and personality to work in a dynamic, multi-business unit environment across all levels of management and across business units and functions.
  • Strong end-to-end process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, time prioritization and risk assessment.
  • Bachelors' degree in Finance/Accounting with minimum of 6 years' post-graduate experience; CPA/MBA highly desirable, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional skepticism and a testing/validation mindset. Background in public accounting or internal audit is required. Must have experience planning and executing audit procedures based upon identified risks.
  • Strong PC, worksheet and word processing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, presentation and influencing skills, including the ability to elevate issues to the right level internally and externally to resolve.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle R12, Siebel/BRM and Business Objects a plus.



How you will lead

  • Assess risk independently and validates thinking/gains alignment with other leaders and managers in the Revenue function.
  • Applies professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of underlying revenue accounting principles.
  • Develops a comprehensive validation strategy that determines what should be validated and when it will be validated during the year.
  • Designs validation procedures designed to assess and validate identified risks to determine if offering features/functionality and/or messaging is functioning consistent with representation and recognized revenue.
  • Understands and assesses impact when and if issues are noted.
  • Clearly articulates their point of view regarding issues identified and works with stakeholders to resolve and remediate issues, with transparency throughout all levels in the Intuit organization.
  • Ensure that intent of policy matches execution in applicable systems and processes with end-to-end process mindset.
  • Stay current on evolving Accounting Standards pronouncements and updates under prevailing regulatory bodies (FASB, SEC) and incorporating into current Company policy as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain the required process and internal control environment and perform control procedures to ensure compliance with Company policy.
  • Develops training and outreach programs and delivers this training to business unit and functional team leaders.
  • Ensure the proper accounting treatment for all product and service offerings is clear and appropriately documented.
