American Express Technology is a critical Enterprise function, serving as the backbone of all we do, from providing the underlying infrastructure of the company to building core products and services we deliver to our customers. Amex Technology has changed dramatically over the last few years, and as Technology continues to evolve its operating model, the Finance organization needs to evolve with it. The Technology HQ Finance Team partners closely with Technology LFO organization to provide enterprise value through advanced reporting and analytics. We partner closely with Tech Finance Leadership on monthly results and planning cycles including LRP and Annual plan for the entire Technology organization.

This Finance Manager role will work closely with the Tech HQ Finance Director and Tech Finance Leadership to provide detailed monthly and quarterly results analysis to our FP&A business partners as well as ongoing outlook, forecasting analysis and communication.

Job Responsiblities

  • Provide critical information to the business and Finance leadership in a standardized and intuitive manner
  • Partner with Financial Colleagues around the globe on results analysis and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with mutliple Business Units and help them understand Technology cost
  • Partner with Collegaues to develop a set of metrics to proactively and more effectively manage Tech expenses.
  • Perform strategic ad-hoc analyses and research to turn data into more insightful information driving business decisions.
  • Provide thought leadership on opportunities for team improvements and process changes
  • Support Director in providing Legal Entity and Managed results analysis and commentary



  • 5+ years of relevant Finance / Business work experience.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate through ambiguity.
  • Solid understanding of P&Ls, financial metrics, cost drivers, forecast methodologies, and cost allocation/expense recovery concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience synthesizing large amounts of complex data with the ability to draw key conclusions.
  • Must be attentive to detail and adept at navigating non-unified structures from various data sources.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize workload across multiple projects/issues and drive results while meeting critical deadlines.
  • Flexibility to quickly pivot around shifting priorities, competing demands, and rapid change.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Suite skillset, Power BI, TM1 (IBM Planning Analytics), Oracle Smartview skillset. Understanding of relational database and SQL coding preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree (Finance / Accounting / Economics / Data Analytics) preferred
