ABOUT THE ROLE

As the International Accounting Manager, you will be an outstanding leader and manager, able to strike the right balance of accounting integrity with business practicality. You will lead and direct a dynamic general ledger team capable of being a key contributor to a rapidly growing and changing business environment. You will act as a true partner to the organization, always approaching work with a lens of adding value to the company and excited to be a part of one of the fastest growing eCommerce teams.

This role will play a pivotal part in GL readiness for international expansion. To start, however, this role will focus on core US/UK GL areas in order to obtain a base understanding and knowledge of our business operations and accounting processes and procedures.

Core GL

  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a general ledger team of 3+ members
  • Manage all aspects of general ledger accounting for your specific areas, including month-end and quarter-end close, quarterly reviews, and annual audit.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with the Company’s accounting policies and procedures environment, including payroll and benefits, cash, prepaids, accruals, marketing, and other balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Lead system and process optimization projects within the overall record-to-report process, in partnership with the IT team, to drive operational efficiencies and advance our mission to make the shift from a transactional to a transformational Finance organization.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Operations, FP&A, Legal, IT and other various business owners to understand and advise on business transactions and the related accounting impact.
  • Partner with our SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting group to help understand and implement new GAAP and reporting requirements.
  • Support the preparation of SEC Footnotes and disclosures through the detailed review & preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Own the continual development and execution of control structures for GL accounting in accordance with SOX 404 requirements; serve as a thought partner for Operations, IT, and other teams on their control structures.
  • Develop and prepare internal management reporting documents to support company decision making and analysis.
  • Support ad-hoc projects as appropriate.

International Expansion

  • Build accounting operations processes, procedures, and systems for international expansion projects. 
  • Lead the build-out of our new international Chart of Accounts structure in Oracle. This includes, but is not limited to: setting up new ledger(s), setting up intercompany/translation/revaluation rules, currency exchange rate maintenance, etc. 
  • Assist with the development of an allocation and cross-charge methodology between entities.
  • Manage all aspects of international general ledger accounting functions including, month-end and quarter-end close, quarterly reviews, and annual audit. 
  • Optimize system accounting functionality for streamlined international reporting. 
  • Hire, lead, and develop a team of international accountants.
  • Partner with the SOX team to develop and implement an internal control structure for our international operations. 
  • Partner with FP&A and our International Operations teams to interpret trends and variances from budget related to our international operations. 
  • As this role will deal with International teams, morning/evening work may be required. 

WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU...

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting. Active CPA is preferred.
  • Bring 7-8+ years of work experience, including public accounting experience at a large firm, and have managed the close process. Experience in international eCommerce and retail is a plus.
  • Have 2+ years of experience in a relevant role, working with international entities.
  • Have 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop others, and motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Have excellent technical accounting skills with detailed understanding of current GAAP standards and experience in exercising judgment and developing accounting positions
  • Have deep experience in successfully leading a close and executing improvements to reduce the number of close days.
  • Have deep experience working with accounting & financial reporting systems, designing & implementing ERP systems, and SOX compliance
  • Embrace technology and realize its potential to drive decision making and process improvements
  • Are organized and have meticulous attention to detail, superb time management, and problem solving skills
  • Can work with your team to establish goals and objectives that lead to the professional development of each individual.
