About the Role:
Motive is looking for an experienced Financial Planning & Analysis professional to join our team! The FP&A team partners with business leaders throughout Motive to drive financial and strategic decisions that guide our growth. We provide analysis supporting a wide range of business issues and manage financial processes including annual planning, forecasting, Board reporting, and ROI analysis.
In this role, your ability to think strategically, adapt quickly, and get things done will earn credibility with all levels of the organization. As Finance Manager, you will work with R&D leadership and Corporate FP&A to enable data-driven decisions by providing financial and operational analytics, insights, and recommendations. We’re looking for an independent thinker, someone meticulous about drilling down to understand data, a great communicator, and someone who enjoys collaborating with diverse and talented people.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the primary finance business partner to R&D leadership.
- Drive the annual and quarterly operating expense planning processes, with a focus on improving forecast accuracy, highlighting risks / opportunities, and making recommendations to fuel Motive’s long term growth.
- Lead monthly review meetings R&D leadership with our CTO and CPO.
- Maintain and improve our AWS and cellular data consumption forecasting models.
- Conduct monthly forecast vs actual variance analysis.
- Partner closely with R&D leaders and Recruiting to develop and accurately forecast resource planning.
- Partner with Corporate FP&A to consolidate quarterly operating plans, covering the full P&L and cash flow. Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting packages to senior leadership and the board of directors.
- Create models and ad hoc analysis to help management evaluate the impact of decisions on short and long term plans.
What We're Looking For:
- 5+ years of relevant experience and Bachelor's or Master's degree in Investment Banking, Finance, Data Science, or related field
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills with both peers and executives
- Must have strong understanding of GAAP accounting and SaaS metrics
- Expert in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- Experience with SQL and/or Tableau preferred, but not required
- Prior R&D experience a plus, but not required
- Experience at a public company a plus, but not required
- Adaptive, NetSuite, Workday, Greenhouse, Salesforce experience are a plus
- Experience in a fast-paced, startup environment is a plus
- This is an individual contributor role but we are looking for someone that knows how to "influence" without the title.
Pay Transparency
Your compensation may be based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications. For certain roles, total compensation may include restricted stock units. The base compensation range for this role is:
$118,000—$150,000 USD
