Corporate Sustainability, Inclusion & Social Impact - Senior Consultant
Northern's Trust's Corporate Sustainability, Inclusion & Social Impact "CSI" group is responsible for delivering solutions for social and environmental objectives for our clients and stakeholders via direct investing of the Bank's capital while operating within the framework of Northern's community investment philosophy and the Community Reinvestment Act. The Senior Consultant role will have individual responsibility for the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)for Northern Trust Corporation and its subsidiary and the CRA rating. This role will maximize the bank's community development impact, Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) examination ratings and client development and retention.
Duties include:
1. Responsible for managing the bank's CRA program management including CRA examination management, data management, and select community investments .
2. Responsible for overall understanding of community development, impact analysis, impact data, examination and preparation to maximize regulatory ratings and bank standing as a community development investor.
3. Provides assistance to the MD in strategic development, opportunity assessment and due diligence, portfolio review and impact analysis.
4. Assists the MD with the financial and staff resources, including developing and managing capital and expense budgets.
5. Helps develop, implement and communicate an overall [Community Development Impact] strategy in line with the Corporation and CII strategic plan.
8. As requested by the MD aids in the development of RFP response and participation in internal meetings and training to leverage Northern's Community Development and Impact Investment portfolio, experience and expertise as a differentiator and client value add.
8. As directed by the MD, may be involved in the sourcing, underwriting, valuation, and relationship management of community development clients and investments.
9. Establishes and maintains relationships with community stakeholders, regulatory bodies and government agencies in the Bank's footprint to help inform and develop innovative strategies for the deployment of capital in underserved communities as directed.
Knowledge/Skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required• Knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act and understanding of Fair Lending guidelines, along with an understanding of community investment strategies and instruments to guide sensitive or difficult situations with bank examiners, senior management, other business units and community stakeholders.• Ability to collect and use data to further define and support the overall impact work of the group and its regulatory requirements• Proficient in the use of spreadsheets and other data tools as well as the ability to communicate the impact story in text using supporting data as needed• Highly flexible and adaptable to change
Experience Required
A College or University degree is preferred with work experience (5+ years) in the field of nonprofits, community development and data management
