Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the administrative, accounting, financial, human resources, corporate legal matters, and risk management operations of the company, including the development of a financial and operational strategy, investor relations, financial reporting, budget/forecast management, and tracking relevant KPIs, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
This person will be a key member of the executive team that will help define company strategy and manage significant growth. The CFO will work together with the CEO and other key executives while also managing the finance and accounting teams. This role will report to the CEO and have regular reporting to the board of directors.
This person must thrive on working cross-functionally across many departments including sales, marketing, operations, product/technology and legal. While an executive role, it is important that this person have a "roll up your sleeves" mentality, ready to and willing to own complex modeling forecasts and update financial reporting. This role should make other leaders in the business more informed and more disciplined about how they manage their departments which will drive company performance.
Finance and Accounting

  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team (sales, marketing, operations, product/technology, credit/risk)
  • Manage impactful KPI tracking with relevant functional managers to communicate impact to business
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual forecast/operating budget
  • Compile and analyze financial reporting packages including forward looking forecast/budget and comparison to actuals for monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Provide explanation of material differences in budget to actuals
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company's procedures, including security protocols and risk management, specifically focused on treasury and payment management
  • Communicate and present financial metrics to senior management and board of directors
  • Oversee all daily finance and accounting activities
  • Manage month-end accounting close process to ensure postings are complete within required deadlines according to the company accounting principles
  • Manage state and federal applicable tax returns by applicable deadlines
  • Manage state and federal registration and reporting functions
  • Manage third-party financial audit by applicable deadlines
  • Manage all treasury management functions
  • Daily cash management and forecasting
  • Monitor the financial performance of the company
  • Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable departments
  • Manage personnel that manages the preparation of payroll for personnel
  • Manage personnel that manages General bookkeeping
  • Other operational and accounting projects as needed and requested


Administration

  • Manage appropriate insurance coverage for corporation and facilities
  • Manage cap table including new and existing employee equity awards
  • Assist in capital raise efforts including equity and debt


Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a CFO in a fast-growing, fintech or lending company
  • Capital markets experience in equity funding for and early-stage company (series A-D) and structured debt facilities for lending operations
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, 10+ years of practical experience of using Excel for building and maintaining financial models
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; must have firsthand knowledge and experience with Private Equity and investor relations
  • Great leadership presence with strong relationship and influencing skills
  • Displays resilience when making challenging decisions and understanding the risks, especially in a growth/expansion stage environment
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Master's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
