Position Summary
Applies principles of accounting to analyze a variety of financial information of moderate scope and complexity and preparation of Divisional and Plant financial reports. Responsibilities include: the accuracy, integrity, control and timeliness of financial reports, transactions, systems and processes. Scope/Supervision and Interaction: ___ Has Direct Reports __X__ Does Not Have Direct Reports* Accountant reports directly to the Division Controller. This responsibility also requires a close working relationship with all personnel of the Division to maintain strong internal controls and to work towards helping the Division achieve their Strategic Deployment objectives. Accountant will reside at the Pan America Division, but will interact and have responsibilities with some of the outlying locations.
Responsibilities
- Recording of Plant location and Division journal vouchers. - Reconcile Divisional Balance Sheet accounts. - Assist in completion of all reports required by the Division or Corporate on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Provide local management with financial or statistical information to enable them to improve and control their operations. - Assist in updating, maintaining, and enhancing the Division's and Plant location's internal controls so that the future financial, internal control, and Sarbanes-Oxley audits are in compliance. - Audit of purchase orders for accuracy and taxability (sales/use). - Tracking of perpetual inventory movements, reconciliation and explanations of differences between the perpetual versus the book balances, and monitoring and analysis of annual physical inventory. - Assist in the development of standard costs. - Monitor and maintain the Division's capital projects and fixed assets. This includes: capital project translations, asset transfers, asset disposals, asset maintenance, asset inventories, and working with the Corporation's internet site to ensure maximum benefit received for potential asset sales. - Analyze financial statements and reports and make recommendations. - Analyze processes and make recommendations for improvements in throughput without comprising proper internal controls.
Qualifications
-Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Accounting. -Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through degree or more years of related experience. -1-2 years experience with general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and Lean philosophy. -Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports. -Proficient in spreadsheet applications, general use of intranet/internet communications and standard business software. Microsoft Office background is a plus. -Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. -Ability to work in a Team environment and to be a Team player.Additional Comments: The essential functions have been provided as examples of the type of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.
