Job DescriptionAbout the Role
We are looking for a Finance Senior Manager in Tokyo to lead finance, regulatory, and statutory operations for our Japan entities, with potential scope to support broader regional expansion (such as South Korea) as our footprint grows.
This role bridges local regulatory compliance (FSA, KLFB, BOJ, FIEA) with hands-on JGAAP and IFRS technical accounting and commercial business partnering.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Capital Compliance: Lead Capital Adequacy Requirements (CAR) monitoring and client fund segregation calculations for the entity. Prepare mandated regulatory reports and manage submissions with key regulatory bodies including FSA, KLFB, BOJ, and FIEA.
Statutory Reporting & Audit: Manage the Preparation of JGAAP statutory financial statement and bridge from IFRS TB to JGAAP. Prepare annual financial statements and business reports. Lead the local audit process with an external auditor and prepare periodical reports to regulators.
Tax & Operations: Coordinate with the internal tax team on local tax filings and preparation of supporting schedules. Oversee local banking portal administration, fixed asset registers, and local vendor management.
Business Partnering & Financial Oversight: Act as the primary Finance partner for local Product, Compliance, Banking, and Expansion teams, leading financial reporting, performance analysis and forecast reviews. Collaborate with Regional and Group Finance to automate processes,ensure robust internal controls and report to the Board.
Candidate Requirements
Experience: Strong background in financial controlling, audit, or regulatory reporting within Banking or FinTech. Direct experience with Type I Financial Instruments Business Operators is strongly preferred.
Regulatory & Technical Skills: Expertise in Japanese financial regulations (FSA/FIEA), CAR calculations, and strong command of JGAAP, IFRS and US GAAP.
Languages: Fluent in Japanese and English (spoken and written) for regulatory reporting and global stakeholder management.
Mindset: Autonomous, detail-oriented, and comfortable navigating fast-paced, matrixed environments.
This is a hybrid role based in Tokyo, Japan, and is not a remote position.
