Job Description:
SUMMARY:
The Finance Segment Manager is responsible for a range of financial management functions across various operations, providing key financial analysis, planning, and reporting to support Ryder's corporate and operational goals. This role involves working closely with senior financial management, group logistics managers, logistics manager and other key stakeholders to enhance financial performance, ensure compliance, and drive operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting:
- Manage journal entries, detailed review and general ledger research to ensure all possible billing opportunities are captured
- Expense and Revenue accruals, fixed asset classification & depreciation and deferred revenue knowledge
- Variance explanations vs forecast; annual plan review and completion
- Ensure the financial integrity of location results and coordinate between headquarters and the field.
- Oversee customer invoicing, revenue posting, and monitor monthly aging reports.
- General knowledge on inventory metrics and reserve accruals if necessary
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Provide account over view analysis for leadership review based on key financial metrics
- Develop and manage financial forecasting, business planning, and branch performance analysis.
- Perform monthly forecasting and annual planning.
Operational Initiatives:
- Collaborate with Direct Customer Logistics (DCL), Group Logistics Manager (GLM) and Logistics Manager (LM) to identify opportunities for cost and productivity improvements.
- Act as a financial advisor to General Managers and operational teams.
- Must have a working understanding of the Supply Chain Management and transportation /logistics process.
Financial Coordination of Contracts:
- Support new account startups, internal controls, billing procedures, and customer reporting processes.
- Match financial risks and rewards and ensure financial integrity in contract management.
- Understand KPI process and pain/gain share.
Compliance & Training:
- Conduct operations audits to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Provide financial training to operations staff on policies, procedures, and financial tools.
- Act as a liaison with Ryder's Shared Services Center and Ryder's Corporate Accounting group
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s Degree (MBA/Finance) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and accounting functions (including Inventory Management and Controls, Financial Analysis and Planning, Financial Reporting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets (depreciation and useful life analysis), Deferred Revenue and Billing) required.
- Strong understanding of income statements, balance sheets, and financial reporting, including financial metrics.
- Advanced computer/spreadsheet knowledge in Excel such as analyzing large data sets, vlookups/hlookups, SUMIFs, creating pivot tables, filtering options and waterfall charts required
- Intermediate level skills with MS Word and MS PowerPoint and publishing complete presentations.
- Experience with leveraging AI for analysis & creating financial workpapers and templates thru Copilot
- Functional knowledge of WMS systems and a working understanding of supply chain management and logistics processes.

Compensation Information:
The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:
