Reporting to the Senior Finance Partner, the Finance Partner provides comprehensive accounting support to the business, executing monthly accounting processes and ensuring appropriate accounting controls are followed. It is responsible for conducting analysis and providing reporting and insights direct to business stakeholders to support effective decision-making.

This role can be based from Warwick or Wokingham, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time, as well as flexible working arrangements. 

Key Accountabilities 

  • Effectively execute month end accounting processes (including balance sheet reconciliations), ensuring accuracy, integrity, adherence to NESO accounting policies and completeness of financial information.

  • Responsible for the delivery of high-quality reporting, information packs, and commentary to support the Senior Finance Partner in providing insights to enable the business to make effective strategic and operational decisions.

  • Delivering customer service excellence to internal customers, ensuring financial performance insights are delivered directly to the business and that all financial performance is understood. Providing timely responses to queries received relating to month end processes.

  • Work collaboratively with teams across entities / functions to build strong relationships and ensure effective financial reporting support is provided across the business. Attending meetings to update on monthly performance, forecast updates and any risks and opportunities, to support effective decision-making.

  • Preparing forecast updates and provide effective narrative to internal customers to ensure the key messages are understood and that all project managers and business budget holders understand their budgets and forecasts.

  • Where necessary providing data for investment business cases for actual spend and for closure papers for total project spend. Ensuring sanctioned spend is fully understood and tracked. 

  • Ensuring all controls for the function are properly conducted and any deviations are escalated as appropriate and remedied accordingly.

  • Delivering high-quality inputs to the regulatory reporting submission through liaison with the Regulation team to ensure smooth integration of deliverables into business submissions.

  • Being recognised as a critical trusted partner for the business, utilising financial expertise and business or project knowledge to provide support to the wider business. 

  • Supporting the external audit process and provide responses to any related queries to ensure the audit process is conducted smoothly and accurately.

  • Providing ad-hoc training, as appropriate, for business customers to encourage and maintain a strong culture of financial literacy and understanding of the financial position of the business. Provide coaching and support to other team members to support their development.

About You

  • Fully qualified accountant (member of CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) or working towards a relevant qualification.     

  • Experience in delivering management and/or project accounting activities (including planning, forecasting, and budgeting).

  • Experience in a business facing role ideally in a regulated business.

  • Strong understanding of governance, risk, and internal control frameworks.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong customer service orientation.
