Position overview
The Financial Operations Specialist oversees the precise issuance of invoices through government portals, ensures the collection of outstanding invoices, updates financial reports, and manages vendor payments. A successful Fin-Ops Specialist exhibits strong attention to detail, organizational proficiency, and adept problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately inputting invoicing details into Canadian Government portals and managing the retrieval of overdue invoices
- Providing general support for financial administration tasks, such as updating Salesforce with new contracts, overseeing monthly commercial annual recurring revenue reporting, and maintaining weekly AR reporting.
- Scrutinizing incoming vendor payables to ensure precision and flagging any discrepancies.
- Cultivating robust partnerships with cross-functional collaborators and clientele.
- Contributing to annual planning efforts, particularly concerning vendor expenditures, customer billing, and cash collection.
- Devising project-oriented strategies to address operational challenges on a large scale.
- Providing occasional support with accounting and tax matters.
Skills and qualifications
- University degree in either accounting or a finance/business related major or equivalent.
- Three years of experience with an operational finance focus.
- Solid understanding of financial processes/systems; adept at monitoring multiple tasks and ensuring timely completion.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral; able to make independent decisions and be detail/analytically oriented.
- Candidate must be able to work independently and communicate with all organization levels.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with Canadian government portals
- Experience using Salesforce
- Experience with reading and understanding customer and/or vendor contracts
- Experience with financial modeling and/or reading financial statements
- Experience using Microsoft Excel
