The Finance & Operations Manager will support the establishment and day-to-day running of VFX Financial’s Malta operations.

This is a hands-on role covering finance, payment operations, office operations, safeguarding, settlement controls and reconciliations. The successful candidate will help ensure that the Malta business operates in a controlled, well-documented and regulatory-aligned manner, working closely with senior management, finance, operations, compliance, risk, treasury, banking partners and outsourced service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day finance, payment and office operations for the Malta business.

• Support the operation of the Company’s safeguarding framework.

• Ensure proper segregation of client funds and accurate client ledger records.

• Oversee reconciliations of client accounts, safeguarding accounts and relevant operational records.

• Support settlement controls, payment processes and operational workflows.

• Monitor operational, financial, liquidity, credit and control issues, escalating where appropriate.

• Support banking operations, payment partner queries and operational issue resolution.

• Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, management information and regulatory reporting inputs.

• Help maintain policies, procedures, records, logs and operational evidence.

• Work with compliance, risk and senior management to ensure processes are aligned with regulatory expectations and internal governance requirements.

• Support local office management and the smooth running of the Malta office.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned in line with the scope of the position, as reasonably required to support business and operational priorities.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate should have:

• Experience in accounting, finance operations, payment operations, banking operations, financial services operations or a related control environment.

• Good understanding of reconciliations, payment processes, settlement controls and operational risk.

• Familiarity with safeguarding, client money, client ledger records or regulated financial services controls would be advantageous.

• Strong attention to detail and good documentation discipline.

• Ability to follow policies, procedures and control processes accurately.

• Good stakeholder management skills, including working with senior management, banking partners, outsourced providers and internal control functions.

• Ability to identify, escalate and help resolve operational or control issues.

• Strong organisational skills and comfort working in a build-stage environment.
