Job Description
The Washington Post is seeking a proactive and analytical Finance Operations Analyst to support key finance functions, including insurance, banking, finance systems access, and administrative operations. This role requires a strong understanding of business principles, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, process-driven, and eager to optimize workflows while maintaining compliance and supporting the company's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
Insurance Program Management:

Lead annual insurance renewal activities, including exposure gathering, application preparation, and premium audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Manage insurance claims oversight, provide guidance on contract provisions, and analyze loss trends to protect the company and mitigate financial risks.

Collaborate with business units to identify risks and implement loss prevention strategies.
-
Facilitate certificate of insurance requests, manage policy updates, and coordinate contract reviews with insurance consultants and business stakeholders.

Work with Legal and Finance teams to track policy retention and claims reimbursement.
Finance Systems & Portal Administration:

Maintain and administer finance-related portals, ensuring compliance with business registration, tax remittances, and banking requirements.

Resolve finance system access issues, conduct quarterly access audits, and document procedures for finance system administration.

Monitor foreign bank account activity and assist with funding processes.

Oversee general ledger reporting, including Chart of Accounts maintenance and financial close integrations.
Regulatory & Treasury Compliance:

Support treasury compliance efforts, including "Know Your Customer" (KYC) requests and bank account openings.

Coordinate cross-departmental data collection for accurate completion of government financial surveys.
Policy & Process Optimization:

Facilitate timely updates to company finance policies and oversee the annual policy review process.

Contribute to finance automation initiatives by tracking automation tools, supporting governance efforts, and coordinating with technology teams.
Administrative & Audit Support:

Assist with annual and interim financial audits, internal control reviews, and compliance assessments.

Maintain financial records, manage department vendor setup, and process invoices.

Handle administrative tasks including document scanning, mail coordination, and notary services.

Support credit card management, sales tax audits, and team event coordination.

Provide direct administrative support to the VP of Finance as needed.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

2+ years of experience in a finance, operations, or analytical role within a fast-paced environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and recommend solutions.

Ability to manage projects, work independently, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Experience working with finance systems, data analysis tools, and process automation technologies.

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams) and other financial software.

Knowledge of insurance, banking, treasury operations, and financial compliance preferred.

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
The Washington Post’s policy for employees is five days per week in the office, with exceptions for newsgathering and general business travel.

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.
The salary range for this position is:
64,300.00 - 96,500.00 USD Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
