About the job
 
The Finance Manager will play a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the financial operations of the Retail channel for Janie and Jack along with supporting the Store Operations team. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in finance and accounting, along with a proven track record in working in a matrix environment. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with various departments to provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to support business decision-making. The Senior Finance Manager will have P&L responsibility for the Retail entire channel.

This role is hybrid onsite in our San Francisco, CA office.


What you’ll do

  • Lead the development and execution of annual financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for the US Retail channel. (~110 stores).
  • Critically review and analyze current store payroll processes in order to provide recommendations and solutions to management for opportunities to gain efficiencies.
  • Work with the GL team for accurate and complete payroll journal entries and assist with month/year end closing as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide regular financial reports and presentations to senior management.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to streamline processes and improve overall cost efficiency for store expenses.
  • Collaborate with the executive team in developing long-term financial strategies to drive business growth and profitability.


What you’ll bring

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (required) with strong Business Analysis experience. 
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive finance experience in the Retail industry.
  • Solid technical skills with a wide range of financial experience and understanding with the ability to automate and streamline financial information.
  • Exhibits strong time management skills; able to work through roadblocks to meet commitments timely.
  • Action-oriented professional with a take-charge, can-do attitude.
  • High-level knowledge of financial reporting concepts processes required.
  • Business financial management experience, preferably in retail or consumer goods organizations.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and ERP systems.
  • An Excel wizard who enjoys staying current on industry trends, legislation, and the business.
  • Must be a problem-solver and be able to function in a high volume, fast-paced environment that serves many high-profile internal customers. 
  • Ability to communicate in an effective and clear manner with leaders and peers, fully capable of taking a stand built on a fact-based, experienced foundation. 
  • Strong organizational skills, taking accountability for driving the completion of insightful, influencing reports and presentations. 
  • Budgeting, project evaluation and spend/cost analysis skills required, knowing how to rise above significant detail to create insights, conclusions, actions. 
  • Ability to lead projects and work with others cross-functionally to determine the best course of action for getting results and generating solutions Excellent PC skills: proficiency in Microsoft Access preferred (but not required), Advanced level skill in Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint a must.
  • Exhibits leadership competencies and professional maturity in dealing with w/peers, leaders, and customers. 
  • High initiative and self-direction with an ambitious approach to your career.
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies, recommend, and implement solutions to improve operations.
  • Strong collaboration skills to build solid, trusted relationships across the business and with Leadership.
  • Ability to multi-task throughout the day.

Actual starting pay for this role is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, relevant skills,, education, and geographic location.

  • At least 7 years of progressive finance experience in the retail industry
