Job DescriptionAbout the role:
We are looking for a tech-forward, analytical, and autonomous Finance Manager to join our Regional Finance team in Austin! In this role, you will play a critical part in scaling our North American operations, with a specific focus on supporting a growing and dynamic set of new products, including Wise Assets. You will help us navigate the complex financial, operational, and regulatory architecture of introducing cutting-edge wealth and investment features to millions of customers.
You will assist in growing our finance capabilities to steer the organization in the right direction, ensuring absolute compliance with local accounting, regulatory, and tax requirements. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the NorthAm Regional Controller offering immense cross-functional exposure across our global compliance, product, and data teams.
You have a genuine passion for what we’re building at Wise and our mission of money without borders, thriving in ambiguous, fast-paced environments where you remain comfortable operating with a high level of uncertainty and acting decisively. As a "roll-up-your-sleeves" operator, you are equally comfortable setting high-level control frameworks as you are digging into raw data to investigate a discrepancy, all while remaining humble, open to continuous self-development, and eager to learn new tools, frameworks, and skills.
Your mission:
Regulatory & Compliance Partnership: Partner with Accounting, Regulatory Reporting, Regional Controllers, and Compliance teams to deliver compliant and highly accurate reporting with clear definitions and robust change management.
Financial Reporting: Compile and own monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for submission to North American regulatory authorities. Seamlessly support ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis requests.
Audit & Exam Management: Act as a key finance stakeholder during regulatory examinations and external financial audits, working closely with Compliance and Regional Controllers to provide clean, verifiable financial data.
Financial Controls: Assist the Regional Finance team in performing day-to-day oversight of our North American legal entities, analyzing financial results, and ensuring necessary internal financial controls are strictly executed.
Systems & Process Scalability: Collaborate with global finance engineering and product teams to ensure our financial systems, automated controls, and reporting processes are fully optimized for regional requirements.
This role will give you the opportunity to:
Own your path to success: Enjoy a high level of autonomy and responsibility. We trust our team to execute without micro-management.
Build for the future: Help design and build efficient automated reporting and financial control processes from the ground up, gaining elite fintech experience that opens doors globally.
Operate at the cutting edge: Work within an international, hyper-growth Finance Team and learn what it takes to drive the financial sustainability of a truly global disruptive fintech.
What You Bring:
Experience: 4+ years of relevant experience in financial controlling, financial audit, financial reporting, or management accounting.
Technical Accounting: A strong foundational understanding of accounting principles with hands-on knowledge of both IFRS and US GAAP.
Data Literacy: Proven experience working with massive, raw datasets and building data-driven financial reports for complex, transaction-heavy businesses.
Stakeholder Management: Experience dealing with internal or external stakeholders on a regular basis, effectively communicating financial reports, data definitions, and requirements.
Beyond Excel: You are comfortable moving beyond standard spreadsheets to query and analyze data directly (experience with SQL is a plus)
Execution & Detail: Exceptional financial reporting and analytical skills. You are accurate, detail-oriented, obsessed with data integrity, and thrive on beating tight regulatory deadlines.
Communication: Able to translate complex financial, tax, and regulatory issues into clear, succinct insights for both internal executive stakeholders and external regulators.
Self-Starter Mindset: An organized professional who can independently structure their day, prioritize competing deliverables, and drive projects to completion.
Nice to Have:
Experience working within a broker-dealer, regulated financial institution, or fintech company.
Prior Big 4 accounting or consulting experience.
An active CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification.
