Position Purpose:

The primary objective of the South-East Asia Manager, Finance, I+E is to manage and develop the Finance team within the South-East Asia Region including management of the Reporting and Analysis, Project Finance and Commercial Finance streams.

The South-East Asia Manager, Finance, I+E has oversight of all financial matters including reporting, analysis, budgets, forecasting, operational efficiencies and enhancing financial and business processes, including system improvements. 
The incumbent will role model the SJ Group values, ethics and code of conduct and ensure all business activities are carried out in accordance with these guiding principles.

Reporting Relationships:
Manager: Director, Finance, Global Infrastructure + Energy
Direct Report(s): Sub-Regional Mangers, Finance, I+E; Senior Business Analyst, Finance, I+E 

Key Accountability 1: Manage detailed and accurate financial data for the South-East Asia Region to facilitate timely reporting and enable informed business decisions including analysis of Commercial, Financial and Project Performance.

Key Accountability 2: Manage, monitor and adhere with SJ Group policies, procedures, systems and controls for all financial processes.

Key Accountability 3 Build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally to contribute to effective client relationship management.

Key Accountability 4: Effectively manages and leads a team of nominated direct reports to ensure optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development.

Formal Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Management (e.g. M BA), highly regarded.

Experience:

Has the demonstrated ability to consistently:

  • Succeed in a similar role within a corporate environment.
  • Understand business and management principles involved in cost control.
  • Deal appropriately with confidential/sensitive information.
  • Establish strong business relationships within a group environment and beyond to ensure efficient delivery of outputs.
  • To produce quality outcomes within an environment with competing demands and tight deadlines.

Skills / Knowledge

  • Strong financial management expertise, including taxation, compliance, reporting and legal issues;
  • Sound knowledge of accounting practices and standards, gained through practical experience, qualification and personal development;
  • Relevant knowledge of applicable Taxation requirements and contemporary financial management systems and audit processes.
  • Sound leadership skills and a proven track record of successful team management;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment;
  • Proven management skills and experience at senior management level and an effective manager by exception;
  • Exceptional communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively identify the appropriate resourcing and skills development within the team;
  • High level commercial acumen and effective strategically planning skills.

Skills Required

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Economics or related discipline

  • Proven success in a similar finance role within a corporate environment
