Introduction to the Job
The Finance Business Controller – R&D will serve as the finance business partner to R&D functions within the CLS business line at ASML and provide support for EUV R&D. This role is responsible for short- and long-term forecasting, monthly analysis and variance reporting, business case development for key products and projects, and ad-hoc analysis. The position reports to the Sr. Manager, R&D Finance in San Diego.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Plan, report, execute, and drive financial planning processes (short-term forecast, month-end close, and annual plan) for R&D functions in San Diego.
- Collaborate with PMO to lead budget control and forecasting for San Diego R&D programs.
- Develop business cases, including ROI and NPV analysis for new products and internal projects.
- Prepare and present monthly forecast packages to senior leadership.
- Support development of key performance indicators and improved financial modeling.
- Complete quarterly lean projects to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work independently on various ad-hoc projects and analyses.
- Mentor and indirectly manage analysts and accounting teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- MBA or Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in similar roles
- Experience in developing financial models to calculate ROI/NPV
- Experience and understanding of accounting and finance principles, including accrual-based accounting and financial statement modeling
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong financial management and analytical skills to influence strategic initiatives and business decisions
- Ability to translate and statistically analyze data and present recommendations effectively in written and verbal formats
- Advanced knowledge of financial theory and GAAP
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion, and SAP preferred
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Effective communication skills
- Willingness to learn ASML’s business and financial models
- Self-starter with the ability to constructively challenge at various levels
- Strong collaboration skills and commitment to building a high-performing team

Other Information
This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, training courses, and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- May require travel (domestic and/or international) dependent on business needs, up to 10%.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$108,750-181,250Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
