About us:

Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group's relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units, helping them capture opportunities with business customers.

IB&M Finance supports the IB&M business through financial control and reporting, balance sheet substantiation, management information and analysis, and ad hoc requirements that support effective control and decision-making.

Picture yourself in the team:

The New York Finance team is responsible for the financial and regulatory reporting of the Group's New York Branch operation and related Americas legal entities, together with the controls and processes of the wider Finance function.

Reporting is provided to local management, the IB&M Leadership Team, Group Finance and external stakeholders, including regulators.

You will have significant ownership of financial and regulatory reporting for CBA's U.S. broker-dealer and will partner closely with Global Markets, Capital Markets, senior leadership, Finance and Risk stakeholders across CBA.

The role combines strong financial control and regulatory discipline with commercial business partnering and a mandate to simplify, automate and improve Finance. Success requires sound judgment, strong stakeholder influence, ownership and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights and actions.

You will report directly to the Senior Finance Manager and be a key member of a six-person New York Finance team supporting CBA’s Americas businesses.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Finance oversight for CBA’s U.S. FINRA-regulated broker-dealer, including financial reporting, regulatory requirements, audit coordination and performance analysis across key products.
  • Partner with Global Markets Product Control to ensure accurate, complete and robust New York financial reporting.
  • Own the delivery of timely and fully reconciled regulatory reporting to the Federal Reserve, OCC, FINRA and Group Regulatory Reporting.
  • Lead monthly financial reporting across CBA’s Americas entities, providing balance sheet and performance insights to senior leadership and governance forums.
  • Act as a trusted Finance business partner, providing financial analysis, constructive challenge and decision support to product and business teams.
  • Maintain and strengthen the Finance control environment, supporting month-end close while ensuring robust processes, reconciliations and documentation.
  • Drive Finance transformation and continuous improvement through automation, data analytics, AI-enabled tools, system implementations and strategic or regulatory change initiatives.

We are interested in hearing from you if you have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Financial Control, Regulatory Reporting, Product Control or a comparable Finance role within institutional or investment banking.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP, with experience in legal entity financial reporting and a solid understanding of balance sheets, P&L, financial controls and reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of Fixed Income, Debt Capital Markets, institutional lending, U.S. Private Placements or related financial products.
  • Experience in U.S. or international regulatory reporting, with U.S. broker-dealer, banking or prudential reporting experience highly regarded.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with large and complex data sets and resolving data or reconciliation issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement, automation and change delivery, with strong data and AI literacy; Power BI and Power Query experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters and build relationships across functions and regions.
  • Strong commercial acumen, ownership and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and manage competing priorities in a global environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business, finance, mathematics, computer science or technology-related discipline.

The salary range for this role is from $145,000 to $190,000 + variable bonus. The salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
