§ Assist in performing all tasks necessary to
achieve the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans
§ Work with the CEO on the strategic vision
including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships, as well as assisting in the development and negotiation of contracts.
§ Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases
may pass independent and audits
§ Provide the CEO with an operating budget. Work with the CEO to ensure programmatic success through cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements. This includes: 1)
interpreting legislative and programmatic rules and regulations to ensure
compliance with all local and
contractual guidelines, 2) ensuring that all regulations and requirements are
disseminated to appropriate personnel, and 3) monitoring
compliance.
§ Oversee the management and coordination of all
fiscal reporting activities for the hospital including: organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports,
reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets.
§ Develop and maintain systems of internal
controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization. Oversee the coordination and activities of
independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with required supplementary schedules and information
§ Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensure a disaster recovery plan is in place.
§ Work closely with external statutory and regulatory bodies eg. URA, NSSF, Banks and auditors
§ Lead the process of procuring, disposal and insurance of assets
§ Train/develop the Finance Unit and other staff on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters
§ TAT for submission of finalized financial reports to management and regulatory authorities
§ Finance Report Error Rate
§ The collections effectiveness index
§ Timely invoice processing and payments
§ Cost management
§ Track financial performance and minimize potential financial risk
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Finance/Accounting is required
· Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA/CAA is required
· Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience of which five (5) must be at senior level in a financial role in a large
organization.
· MBA is an added
advantage.
· A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
· Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
· Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
· Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting
- Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA/CAA
- Minimum of ten years of financial experience
- Five years in a senior financial role
