About This Role
Morningstar's Finance team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analysing the company's financial results. The team works collaboratively with our business groups to support them with timely and insightful information to make informed business decisions.
As a Finance Manager joining the UK-based finance team reporting into the EMEA West Controller., you'll be responsible for the performance reporting and financial controls of all of Morningstar's business operations within the UK, South Africa, and Dubai (West).
Partnering with the business, the team operates within the Morningstar accounting framework, producing financial reporting consistent with US GAAP.
You'll support the EMEA West Controller to play a key role in Morningstar's external reporting requirements, appropriate for a publicly traded US corporation, and you'll play a key role in financial and statutory reporting, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met, working in partnership with our shared service centre based in Mumbai and Romania.
The role will be expected to introduce improvements and efficiencies which will help drive the business forward. This position is based in our London office.
What You'll Do

  • Manage the preparation and ensure the financials statement are prepared timely and in compliance with local GAAP
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and other regulatory filings in line with the companies Act and other local laws in the West entities
  • Co-ordinate and manage the local tax filling process with Morningstar's global tax team, including review of submissions of corporate tax returns, VAT returns and other related tax filings
  • Be the point of escalation for external auditors during the audit process, ensuring timely resolution of any issues raised
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local and international regulations such as the FCA requirements, SOX for US companies and keeping updated with any changes that may impact financial reporting requirements
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial reporting processes to drive efficiency
  • Manage and develop one finance professional to ensure high-quality work and professional growth
  • Build a relationship with the service centre to ensure efficient processing


Who You Are

  • Knowledge of local GAAP / IFRS (essential) and US-GAAP (desirable).
  • Strong technical knowledge with regards to revenue recognition accounting policies.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for ensuring accuracy, and strong analytical skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (essential)
  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent international accounting qualification.
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years PQA
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Financial Systems and Hyperion Financial Management is (desirable but not essential)
