Join us as an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Associate - Legal Entity Controller to support our Accounting & financial reporting functions. In this role, you will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall success of the finance team.
As an Associate within our Legal Entity Controller team, you will be responsible for playing an instrumental role in ensuring the Firms controls are operating effectively, ensuring we provide accurate and timely reporting to external stakeholders and partnering with Businesses across the Group to assist them in reaching their potential and providing guidance and support to all areas of the Firm in developing plans, in line with location and regional initiatives.
Job responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements for legal entities, ensuring compliance with both US GAAP and HGB (Handelsgesetzbuch).
  • Facilitate the month-end and quarter-end close processes, adhering to corporate deadlines, and managing tasks such as FX trade out, reconciliations, inter-entity discrepancies, and technical accounting.
  • Assist in the annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes at both the legal entity and business line levels.
  • Compile management board reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financials, accompanied by high-quality commentaries.
  • Timely preparation and submission of statutory reports to the Federal Reserve Bank and local regulators.
  • Collaborate closely with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and detailed explanations.
  • Participate actively in department-wide projects and initiatives.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong post-qualification experience in an accounting environment, preferably within the financial services industry in Germany.
  • Business fluency in both German and English.
  • Strong familiarity with financial reporting standards, including US GAAP and HGB.
  • Robust technical skills essential for the role, with a keen attention to detail. Takes initiative to expand knowledge and exhibits strong financial and analytical capabilities.
  • Attention to detail and time management are essential, with the flexibility to thrive in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in handling large data sets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, across various levels of seniority within the firm.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks, taking initiative to enhance personal performance, and working diligently towards challenging goals, while persisting in the face of obstacles or setbacks.
  • Identifies innovative ways to enhance current processes and develop creative solutions that are practical and valuable.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience of the Firm's ledger and consolidation platform (SAP, CDGL and BPC)
  • Continuous improvement / innovation mindset, Id for new ways to improve current processes and develop creative solutions that are grounded in reality and have practical value.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ideally understanding of process enhancement tools such as Alteryx & Tableau.
