Job Summary
The FinanceAccounts Executive is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, supporting month-end and year-end closing activities, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements. The role supports the smooth operation of the finance function by managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, financial reporting, and administrative accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1. General Accounting
- Record and process daily financial transactions accurately and timely.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper coding of transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation.
2. Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices and staff expense claims.
- Verify invoices against supporting documents and approvals.
- Prepare payment schedules and process vendor payments.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
3. Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and issue customer invoices.
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Record receipts and allocate payments correctly.
- Assist in debt collection activities when required.
4. Bank and Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances.
- Monitor cash balances and report any unusual transactions.
5. Financial Reporting
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts.
- Generate financial schedules and reports for management.
- Support budgeting and forecasting exercises.
- Analyze financial data and report variances.
6. Compliance and Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist with statutory filings and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare audit schedules and provide supporting documents for external and internal audits.
- Maintain proper documentation for tax and compliance purposes.
7. Fixed Asset Management
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
- Record asset acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Assist with periodic asset verification exercises.
8. Other Duties
- Support process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
- Assist with ad hoc finance projects and management requests.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Completed or ongoing Bachelor's Degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Partly qualified or pursuing a professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Experience
- 2–51-3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
- Experience using accounting software and ERP systems. Knowledge of WorkdDay is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
