Position Summary

The Finance Director serves as the organization's senior financial leader, responsible for driving financial strategy, operational performance, and sustainable growth across a growing multi-site healthcare practice. This role combines financial leadership, business partnership, and team development to support sound decision-making and advance the organization's long-term objectives.

Working closely with executive, clinical, and operational leaders, the Finance Director provides financial insights, business analysis, and strategic recommendations that help optimize organizational performance and support future growth of the Practice. This leader will play a key role in guiding financial operations, developing talent, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a strategic and collaborative finance professional who can balance day-to-day financial oversight with long-term planning and business partnership. This is a fully onsite position based in our Grand Ledge, Michigan office. Preference will be given to candidates located within the Mid-Michigan region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the CEO and serves as a trusted financial advisor to the leadership team, providing insights and recommendations that support organizational objectives, operational performance, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance management processes.
  • Oversee accounting and financial operations, including financial reporting, cash management, payroll oversight, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and internal controls.
  • Develop financial models, analyses, and business cases to support strategic initiatives, operational improvements, capital investments, and growth opportunities.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards, and reporting tools to measure organizational performance and support decision-making.
  • Partner with leaders across the organization to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and financial performance.
  • Manage banking relationships, audits, tax compliance, and financial risk management activities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support organizational growth initiatives, process improvement efforts, technology implementations, and special projects.
  • Participate as an active member of the leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, business decisions, and organizational success.
  • Occasional travel to company locations may be required, generally up to 25%.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of six years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), or related business leadership roles, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams, projects, or key business functions.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, financial reporting, and performance management.
  • Experience presenting financial information and business recommendations to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and accounting, ERP, or financial management systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, MBA, MHA, or other relevant professional certification or advanced degree.
  • Experience within healthcare, professional services, multi-site organizations, or other service-focused industries.
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle operations, reimbursement processes, or related operational finance functions.
  • Experience supporting organizational growth, operational improvement initiatives, or business transformation efforts.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or similar financial management systems.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling, profitability analysis, and business intelligence tools.
