Job Purpose:
We are recruiting a Financial Controller for South Central Europe (covering Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Moldova). This is a pivotal role offering broad exposure across financial accounting & reporting, financial controls, business partnering, and transformation initiatives.
You will lead the Stewardship agenda, ensuring objective oversight, high-quality reporting, and strong control performance. The role requires the ability to navigate complex issues, influence senior stakeholders, and balance value protection with value creation.
You will manage a team of five finance professionals, and work closely with our operating centres in Poland and external partners. The role reports to the Head of Financial Controlling Europe in Rotterdam and is part of the Europe financial controllers community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver complete, accurate, and timely accounting and reporting for Group, statutory and tax purposes.
• Strengthen accounting quality and implement updates to standards, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with the 1U Financial Controls Framework and Global Process Model, driving root-cause remediation where needed.
• Partner the business on accounting, reporting, controls, and major transformation projects.
• Liaise with (external) auditors and (tax) authorities.
Required Experience:
• Minimum 8 years in finance, with experience in either accounting, financial controls, or auditing.
• Hands on experience in project management and team leadership would be beneficial.
• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder landscapes and communicate effectively with senior leaders.
• Demonstrated capability to develop and grow talent.
• Ability to simplify complex topics and hold others accountable.
• Romanian language is preferred.
• Work location is Bucharest (or Ploiesti).
