The Finance Business Partner, IT & Capital Budgeting is a financial leader responsible for providing financial support, analysis, and guidance to the Information Technology (IT) department and managing the capital budgeting process for the organization. This role ensures financial discipline in IT investments, optimizing technology spending while aligning with corporate financial goals.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IT financial management, capital planning, and cost optimization, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to drive financial efficiencies and maximize ROI on technology investments.
Financial Partnership with IT
• Partner with IT leadership to develop financial models that support technology initiatives, infrastructure investments, and digital transformation projects.
• Provide financial analysis and modeling for IT projects, including cost-benefit analysis, ROI calculations, and funding recommendations.
• Support IT vendor negotiations and contract management with the Procurement team, ensuring cost-effective procurement and budget alignment.
• Assess and monitor IT operating and capital expenditures, identifying opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
Capital Budgeting & Financial Planning
• Lead the capital budgeting process, ensuring accurate forecasting, resource allocation, and financial oversight of major investments.
• Develop financial models to assess the long-term financial impact of capital projects, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy.
• Work closely with key stakeholders to evaluate capital requests, prioritizing initiatives based on financial and strategic value.
• Establish and maintain capital project tracking and reporting, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
Financial Reporting & Governance
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and accounting standards related to IT and capital expenditures.
• Develop and maintain financial dashboards and reports that provide clear visibility into IT spending, capital investments, and project performance.
• Collaborate with finance, IT, and executive leadership to provide strategic insights that support decision-making.
Requirements:
• 10+ years in a management or leadership role, IT experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance is required; an advanced degree, CPA, CMA or MBA preferred
• Expertise in capital budgeting, financial planning and IT cost management
• Strong understanding of IT financial structures, including software/hardware investments, cloud computing, and technology contracts.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strategic agility, business acumen, and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, including high-level leaders
• Expertise and a proven track record of exceeding goals and evidence of the ability to continually make good decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to collaborate across different teams
• Ability to meet short/long term deadlines
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Data Visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau
