Finance and Operations Senior Officer

What we need

Corpay is currently looking to hire a Finance and Operations Senior Officer within our Alpha FX division, within the Cross Border line of business.

The primary function of this role is to lead and oversee the operations of Alpha FX Europe Ltd, with particular emphasis on safeguarding, funds management, regulatory reporting, and operational controls. As a senior member of staff, you will be expected to set and promote exceptional standards of professional conduct, integrity, and financial discipline.

This role is specific to Alpha FX Europe Ltd in Malta and its branches across Europe, and you will therefore report to the Managing Director and the Group Head of Compliance. You will regularly collaborate with Sales, Compliance, Legal, and Operations team in Malta and into the wider Global team.

How We Work

As a Finance and Operations Senior Officer, you will be expected to work in an office environment. Corpay will set you up for success by providing:

Role Responsibilities

Safeguarding & Funds Management 

  • Overseeing the safeguarding process as outlined in the Company’s Safeguarding Policy, ensuring full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. 
  • Ensuring the accuracy of all transactions processed through the Company’s client bank accounts. 
  • Monitor and reconcile all incoming and outgoing funds, including cross-checks of safeguarding movements and the execution of sweeps and reconciliations. 
  • Ensuring clients have sufficient funds on deposit at all times, proactively identifying and resolving any funding shortfalls. 
  • Reconciliation of all open client positions, maintaining accurate and timely records of client exposures 

Regulatory Reporting & Compliance 

  • Leading the preparation, analysis and submission of all regulatory reports required by the MFSA and other relevant authorities, including those under MiFID and E-Money regulations. 
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of applicable regulatory reporting obligations and ensure reporting processes are robust, accurate, and submitted on time. 
  • Liaise with the Compliance function to support the provision of financial data required for regulatory submissions and ad hoc regulatory enquiries. 

Accounting Procedures & Internal Controls 

  • Maintaining and continuously enhance the Company’s accounting procedures, ensuring they remain fit for purpose and aligned with best practice. 
  • Design, implement, and monitor related internal controls to safeguard company and client assets. 
  • Prepare and oversee the production of management accounts, financial statements, and Board reporting packs. 
  • Working closely with external auditors and ensure the timely completion of the annual audit process. 

Trading Support & Client Position Management 

  • Issue trade confirmations for client activity in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Supporting the Head of Trading on matched principal execution, ensuring operational processes are efficient and well-controlled. 
  • Conduct ongoing review of client open positions, flagging any risks or anomalies to the Head of Trading and senior management as appropriate. 

Skills and Requirements 

  • 5+ years of experience within a financial services environment, ideally within a credit institution, payments institution, investment firm, or FX business. 
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding obligations under E-Money or Payment Services regulations. 
  • Proven experience in funds reconciliation, client money management, and financial controls. 
  • Experience of regulatory reporting under MiFID and/or E-Money frameworks, ideally in a Malta or EU-regulated entity. 
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting; a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is strongly preferred. 
  • Experience supporting trading operations, including trade confirmation, position management, and matched principal execution, would be a distinct advantage. 
  • Diligent, detail-oriented, and committed to accuracy. 
  • Effective communicator with the ability to take ownership of issues and drive resolution. 
  • Confident and tenacious whilst also being a collaborative team player. 
  • A desire and ability to understand operational processes and identify improvements and efficiencies.
