Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy student for a specialized summer internship. This role is focused on a critical infrastructure project: the systematic reorganization and renaming of a high-volume electronic document library.  This is an ideal opportunity for a student looking to gain experience in data integrity, digital organization, and the operational workflows of a professional business environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Data Categorization: Identifying and sorting documents into a digital directory structure based on date and document type
  • Systematic Renaming: Reviewing large volumes of digital files (PDFs, Excel, Word) and renaming them according to a pre-defined naming convention
  • Workflow Documentation: Maintaining a simple log of progress and identifying any files that require further administrative review

The Intern will work approximately 10–15 hours per week.  Specific days and times will be negotiated with the Assistant Controller.

Education, Experience and Competencies:

  • Currently enrolled as a student at West Virginia University, preferably majoring in accounting, finance, MIS, business management or a related field
  • In good academic standing with the University and free of any disciplinary actions
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate strong accountability and follow-throughI,A2401_1192_0
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once project scope is defined

Physical requirements

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use his/her hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and possibly at times, climb or balance, stoop or kneel. Vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision. Work Environment: The position is hybrid in alignment with the WVUF work/telecommuting policy.  The position is expected to be primarily remote but will also require in-person training and follow-up as needed.
