POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Reporting Analyst plays a crucial role within the Corporate Finance Group, focusing on supporting the quarterly financial close process, as well as accounting and reporting for the Insurance Segment. This role is critical in supporting the growing operations within Arch and the strategic plan for the Corporate Finance department. The analyst will work with various financial systems, data sets, and reporting tools to prepare financial reporting schedules, reports and journal entries. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in Excel, able to manage large data sets and complex reports using advanced formulas, quickly adapt to new systems and technical reporting tools while demonstrating strong analytical skills. We are seeking a candidate who combines financial knowledge with exceptional technical expertise in report building, data analysis, and process automation.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
•    Collect, analyze, and interpret financial data to create financial statements and schedules to report the company’s financial performance
•    Assist in the timely and accurate preparation of the quarterly reports and Management Discussion and Analysis report (MD&A) 
•    Leverage advanced Excel skills to generate detailed financial schedules such as Profit and Loss statements, Written Premium reports, and Acquisition Expense schedules
•    Perform various quarterly close activities, including the calculation of Deferred Acquisition Costs (DAC) and the validation of Incurred But Not Reported Reserves (IBNR) posting, along with the booking of other manual journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
•    Support the consolidation process by performing regular reconciliations between systems to ensure data integrity and consistency across financial reporting tools and databases
•    Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation solutions such as macros or SQL to streamline reporting tasks and close procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
•    Build and optimize complex financial reports and dashboards using advanced Excel techniques and other reporting tools
•    Respond promptly to ad-hoc requests for financial information from various corporate and business partners
•    Uphold internal controls and assist with external audit requests, ensuring financial integrity and compliance
•    Perform other duties as requested

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•    Strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills 
•    Knowledge of GAAP and financial statement analysis
•    Proven experience in building and automating complex financial reports
•    Strong technical skills with familiarity in financial reporting tools and data analysis software
•    Ability to manage and interpret large datasets and integrate data from diverse sources
•    High level of proficiency in leveraging Microsoft Excel advanced formulas, including VLOOKUP, SUMPRODUCT, and what-if statements to effectively manipulate, sort, and filter data for comprehensive analysis
•    High attention to detail, a desire for accuracy, and a strong sense of urgency 
•    Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
•    Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to multi-task under tight time frames
•    Proven ability to analyze data and the underlying drivers of financial results
•    Knowledge of insurance accounting and financial reporting  
•    Adept at quickly adjusting to new responsibilities and thrive in an ever-changing work environment

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•    Experience in public company financial reporting is a plus
•    Experience with Workday, TM1, or OneStream are a plus 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
•    B.S. in Accounting, Finance or related field
•    3+ years of accounting, finance or financial reporting experience in Insurance industry, Property & Casualty preferred

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$61,500 - $79,900/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
